This wonderfully tender delicacy with its unmistakably mild and light taste matures for several months in the tranquil, aromatic mountain air of the Black Forest, 900 metres above sea level. The air-dried meat from the leg of the hog lends a characteristic flavour to numerous German, Italian and French dishes. It can also be enjoyed as a simple accompaniment to fresh tomatoes and melon. But it’s also exquisite on its own and our granddad’s favourite. Farmhouse ham is generously seasoned and then air-dried. It’s the combination of the seasoning and maturation that gives this raw ham its special quality.
Adler Bauernschinken is available sliced in a vacuum-sealed pack to preserve its full flavour.
